A. Instructor Course Prerequisites: 1. Have a Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider Certification 2. Be at least 18 years old 3. Experience working in the Healthcare Environment 4. Be prepared to complete and pass the BLS Skills check-off 5. Be prepared to complete and pass the BLS Instructor Written Exam. 6. Have require equipment to teach the course (Manikins, AED Trainer, etc.). **** Those who do not successfully pass the BLS Skills & Written exam will not be allowed to continue and must reschedule for the next BLS Instructor Course. Come to class prepared to do this! B. Complete BLS Instructor Essentials 2020 Online ($42.65): C. Purchase Your 2025 Teaching Materials (Provided with Course Fee): BLS Instructor Package: DVD Videos https://shopcpr.heart.org/bls-instructor-package-dvd OR BLS Instructor Package: USB Videos https://shopcpr.heart.org/bls-instructor-package-with-course-videos-on-usb OR BLS Instructor Package: Digital Streaming Videos https://shopcpr.heart.org/bls-instructor-package-digital-video (If you also plan on teaching HeartSaver level courses [Community level CPR/AED and or First Aid] you must also acquire the HeartSaver Instructor Manual along with the appropriate HeartSaver Course DVD or Digital Video before teaching those programs. Not Required to attend BLS Instructor Course. ) 4. Attend the BLS Instructor Course on Campus ($300): D. Bring with you: 1. Proof of Current BLS Provider Certification 2. BLS Instructor Essentials 2020 Online Course Completion Certificate 3. BLS Instructor Manual in Print or eBook Format 4. Electronic device to access online modules (Laptop) E.5. Be Monitored Teaching 1 BLS Provider Course: Following successful completion of the BLS Instructor Essentials Course (both Online and Classroom portions) The candidate also must be monitored by a Training Center Faculty member, teaching their first course within 6 months of the Instructor Essentials Course completion date. After 6 months the COURSE will have to be taken again. IRCM will travel up to 40 miles to monitor the class at no additional cost. If the monitoring location is outside of 40 miles, there is an additional fee. This will complete the applicant instructor process.
